How ION and The Investigators Anywhere Resource Site Operate How ION and The Investigators Anywhere Resource Site Operate Information on over 10,000 investigators worldwide is maintained in ION's proprietary, in-house, database with over 5,000 of them reachable through this online service. Specialties, experience, background, professional affiliations, ratings, a record of every contact made or attempted contact with them by ION staff members plus information they have provided add up to millions of fields. Information has been obtained from licensing bureaus, associations, newspapers, advertising and especially, from clients. We ask clients to give us feedback on the investigators we have referred to them after the work has been done. When investigators obtain referrals to other investigators through ION's system, their ratings as clients, frequently related to how they pay their bills, also influence their ratings as investigators in the system. Although ION's database has over 10,000 investigative agencies, the only ones available online at this site are those with e-mail addresses who we have been able to confirm are actually in business and about whom our records gathered over the past twenty years are not negative. Private investigators who do not respond to communications may provide professional services but are not available online and are not referred by ION without ION staff screening. Investigators who have not responded to ION's requests by mail, e-mail or telephone for information about their agencies do not show up on this site. ION's goal is to get clients taken care of with the least hassle and cost possible. A phone call or e-mail to ION is the best way to reach the best investigator with the least hassle. There are many good agencies not reachable electronically. Investigators who do not meet ION's standards of professionalism are not allowed to remain ION members and are not findable by clients in our system. The ION staff obviously does not refer cases to agencies we have found to be less than professional. Clients who use an investigator through this service are invited to rate the investigastor for competence and professionalism by e-mailing a performance rating to ION. Complaints and low ratings should be accompanied by an explanation for the low rating. Professional investigators who consistently provide the best results physically go places to obtain needed information when needed. Laws regarding the licensing of investigators and what is permissible differ by state and country. By using local professionals, clients get someone familiar with what can be done, and who knows the best way to get it done in the least time. INTERNATIONAL REFERRALS Investigations are generally more difficult and expensive to accomplish outside the US and Canada. Each country has different laws regarding the release of information. In some countries, those who conduct investigations don't even call themselves private investigators. Records we take for granted as public are often not only not available online, they are not even officially available to members of the public. In some localities officials who would be government paid public servants in the U.S. depend for their income on cash payments directly from the members of the public they serve. This creates an awkward situation for an investigator from out of the country who doesn't know the rules and the right people. Because of the differing traditions and practices in other countries it is best to have dependable local investigators work as many cases as possible. Although ION cannot guarantee the integrity or competence of all investigators located through our services, with appropriate feedback from clients, ION is bringing the pressure of honest competition to private investigation in many places for the first time. Corporate Mission Improving Investigation, for clients, investigators, and society. |
